- Roundtable and Meetup to explore the French tech startup scene -

TechCrunch UK and Europe will be hosting a Roundtable and Meetup in Paris on Wednesday 25th of February, 3pm-6.30pm followed by drinks and networking. The event takes place at La Cantine in conjunction with SeedCamp and Open Coffee.

"TechCrunchTalk: France 2.0" will feature an afternoon of panel discussions with the hottest entrepreneurs and investors selected for their leading views on the market followed by product pitches from three to five companies, and some great evening networking with French startups and the investment community.
The event will be live video streamed on TechCrunch.

The TechCrunchTalk event is aimed at bringing together the web 2.0 startup and VC community to debate the next phase of the startup world. The participants in TechCrunchTalk: France 2.0 include amongst others Salman Malik, ex-founder of Firefly, Steph Bouchet ex-Joost, Laurent Feral-Pierssens of Silentale.com, Olivier Schuepbach of Wellington Partners, Sofinova the VC, the startups Square Clock and TV Trip, as well as Colette Ballou Lamotte of Ballou PR - with more to be announced.

France is a key nation in Europe but in an era of globalisation will its emphasis on the French language act as a key advantage or disadvantage for French startups trying to build the next Google? French entrepreneurs are renowned for their savvy, smart take on technology - but does France face a brain-drain as French startups seek their fortune in Silicon Valley?

The Roundtable and Meetup will focus on the following themes:

o What are the strengths of the French tech scene?
o Where and how can it be improved?
o Should French startups concentrate on France or scale across Europe?
o Is the VC community doing enough for entrepreneurs?
o What is the VC community looking for from French entrepreneurs?

Mike Butcher, editor of TechCrunch UK and Europe comments: "France has a global reputation for excellence in technology, and this is an amazing opportunity to get to the bottom of how technology startups are fairing in 2009"

Tickets to the event are a nominal Euros 35 per person to minimise no-shows - and can be purchased online here: http://www.amiando.com/tcparis.html

Attendee identification will be checked at the door. Due to the strong demand for tickets, we regret tickets are not transferable and not refundable. If you use your name to purchase multiple tickets, your guests must arrive with you to check in at the door.
